About

The Taxpayers’ Foundation is a non-partisan registered non-profit organisation which advocates the prudent expenditure of government revenues in the public’s best interest. This should be underpinned by tax policies that promote economic growth characterised by simplicity, transparency and efficiency.

The Taxpayers’ Foundation aims to expose and prevent distortionary and wasteful taxes and expenditure. It acts as a resource to educate taxpayers of their rights and what constitutes sound fiscal policies. Furthermore, it serves as a forum whereby all interested individuals, corporations and government alike can freely debate such issues.

Our goals

  • The Taxpayers’ Foundation aims to become an increasingly influential organisation which the public and media can seek for comments concerning government spending and tax related issues.
  • The Taxpayers’ Foundation will harness public dissatisfaction with the status quo to spur activism and influence policy toward greater upliftment and sustainable development.
  • Examples of such expenditure include the National Health Insurance (NHI) Scheme, the proposed ESKOM tariff hikes and the SABC tax as well as the government bailout of parastatals such as South African Airways, the SABC and the Land Bank.

What we are NOT

  • We are NOT a tax practitioner’s organisation. For tax related advice and structuring, please contact a tax advisor.
  • We are NOT a political organisation. Although we realise that we are not operating in a political vacuum, our views and policy recommendations are based on economic and social considerations only. We maintain no affiliation with any political party.
